Cam Newton Shares If He’s Been Told Who’s Starting

Give the man a break! Cam Newton has received a lot of questions about the New England Patriots and their starting quarterback. I guess he is fed up with this situation. Newton was friends with the media but some people just won’t stop teasing him.

So, who is starting Week 1? The 2015 NFL MVP wouldn’t reveal the information. Reporters keep asking the same question over and over again, but neither Newton nor Bill Belichick have provided answers so far.

I guess the Patriots head coach has a few ideas but he will probably wait until the official start of the new season.

Everything points to the fact that Newton will start in Week 1. The team has yet to make an official announcement.

On Monday, the media asked Newton if he knows who will go under center in the first game of the 2021 NFL season. Let’s just say his response was pretty blunt.

The veteran is focused on his game and that’s the only thing that matters right now. Newton is trying to improve himself in every way possible and he won’t let people steal his joy. He is happy with the Patriots and Belichick likes him a lot. Even Drew Bledsoe said he would love to see more from Newton in 2021.

“Y’all sitting up here asking silly questions to me and I’m looking at y’all with the same thing. I don’t know what y’all want me to say,” Newton said, per the Boston Herald. “You know, you know that. You know he hasn’t said that, so for you to just ask the question, it is what it is.

“So every single day I’m coming out here with the intention to just get better. That’s the only thing I can do. I can control that. But as far as somebody else’s analogy or interpretation for what Week One is, I’m trying to focus on what tomorrow brings, and making adjustments in tonight’s meetings.”

Cam Newton doesn’t think of the next starting quarterback

Pretty much every NFL person is interested in the unfolding quarterback battle in New England. Newton is the favorite but Mac Jones had good outing too. He did an incredible job in Game 1 of the preseason and the Patriots ended up beating the Washington Football Team.

Newton heard all the comments about this competition. He is not really bothered with that. He likes Jones and has already acknowledged his huge potential.

“I don’t take [your questions] personal. I just want you guys to understand, everything y’all know, I know,” Newton added. “There’s no hidden motives or things like that. I do know those things like that, I can’t worry about. Because each and every day, I don’t necessarily care about who’s starting, I mostly care about making sure I put the best product out there for me, and I know Mac is feeling the same way, I know Brian [Hoyer] is feeling the same way and everybody else, going down each and every position.

“As far as Week One, we’ve got so much to worry about prior to Week 1. And that’s where my focus is right now.”
