Video Of Mac Jones Patriots Debut Is Going Viral
Rookie quarterback Mac Jones had his Patriots debut. The New England Patriots selected him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. NFL experts had great expectations from the first-rounder and everything points to the fact that he will be the franchise quarterback.
Patriots fans had a chance to see the rookie in action and I guess everyone loved his performance.
Veteran quarterback Cam Newton is the starter for the Patriots, but Jones will be the quarterback of the future. The former Alabama star saw action in the preseason opener against the Washington Football Team late in the first quarter of the game.
Mac Jones did well in the Patriots debut
Fans in attendance were ready for a big welcome and they gave Jones a rousing ovation as he made his way to the field.
Jones looked really sharp in his debut with the Patriots. He was able to complete 5-of-8 passes for 44 yards. The rookie launched his very first pass to Jakobi Meyers but it was “incomplete”, and head coach Bill Belichick didn’t challenge it.
Jones almost had a touchdown throw on the first drive. NFL analysts are really impressed with his performance in the preseason. This will have a big say in Belichick’s gameplan in the regular season.
The Washington Football Team was leading the Patriots 7-6 at halftime, but Belichick’s team ended up winning the night. The Patriots celebrated a 22-13 win and this is more than enough for doubters to stop trashing the team. This win gave us a glimpse into what the Patriots could offer in the regular season.
Belichick packed the roster with talent. He snatched a few great free agents in the offseason and selected a group of talented rookies in the 2021 NFL Draft. Jones turns out to be a good pick so far. Belichick did a good job with his new players. Patriots coaches are more than excited about the new squad and they have high expectations from the group.
