Matthew Slater Goes Straight To The Point, Effusive in Praise For Tom Brady

The New England Patriots will meet the greatest quarterback of all time at Gillette Stadium. Great Tom Brady will meet his former team for the first time as an opposing quarterback. This will be one of the most important games of the regular season. Current and former Patriots players shared their thoughts of the game. Patriots special teams captain Matthew Slater spent enough time with Tom Brady to get to know him really well.

“I’ll say this to start out with: I have a tremendous amount of respect for Thomas,” Slater said during a Zoom call. “Obviously, having played with him for 12 years, I couldn’t think any higher of a player than I think of Tom Brady. I couldn’t think more highly of anyone that’s ever played the game than I think of Tom as a player. As a friend, he’s been nothing but kind to me and my family. So, I’m very appreciative of that relationship.”

Matthew Slater knows Tom Brady really well

Meeting TB12 again will be a big deal for every Patriots player on the roster. The team is off to a bad start and they have a 1-2 record at this point. Slater knows that he and his teammates will have to try really hard to repair the damage and maybe win Week 4. The Patriots offense struggled last night. Rookie quarterback Mac Jones was picked three times. He didn’t get much help from Patriots tight ends and offensive players.

“But, I think this week, the New England Patriots need to focus on the New England Patriots and the things that we need to do to start playing better football, consistent football, competitive football.”

Slater knows that Brady is an exceptional player. He is the GOAT, remember?

“No, I’m not surprised,” Slater said when asked if he is surprised by Brady’s dominance at this age. “Greatest football player in the history of football. So, nothing he does should surprise you.”

The Patriots veteran made a good point. Let’s see what happens on Sunday. Head coach Bill Belichick and his team are already watching tape and working on the strategy.
