Lakers Could Make Coaching Change, Per Insider

The Lakers might make a coaching change early in the season. It is really quite simple right now, the Los Angeles Lakers suck. They are not a good basketball team and they are not improving at all. What does this mean for the future? Well, there are several ways to look at the struggles so far this season. First, changes need to be made and they need to be made before it is too late. What changes could be made is a different story.

According to an insider close to the Lakers, the team might be looking for a coaching change. As is the norm in the NBA, when a team fails to play to expectations, the coach is always the first to get blamed. This is not different in Los Angeles. The Russell Westbrook experiment is quickly turning into an all out failure. And who is going to be blamed for this? Well, most likely Frank Vogel, the head coach.

A lot of this depends on how the team plays once LeBron James is finally back from his injury. His absence has had a huge negative impact on the Lakers team as a whole. While this is understandable, it is also clear that the team will need to learn to play without LeBron as he has been injury prone.

Lakers Could Make Coaching Change, Per Insider

Anthony Davis, who has played pretty well this season, did not mince his words when describing his team’s play so far. It is clear that they are frustrated and are looking for changes to be made. Whether or not that means a coaching change is a different story.

“We suck,” he told reporters after yet another loss. “No defense, can’t score. That’s not just this third quarter. Every third quarter that we’ve played this season, we come out slow, lackadaisical offensively and defensively. … Championship team? That’s not us right now.”

A coaching change is not a quick solution by any means. Just because they fire Vogel does not mean that all of the Lakers problems will be solved quickly or at all. But it might be what is coming if the team can’t figure things out in a timely fashion.
