Report: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Son Sentenced to 6 Months in Jail
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is dealing with a huge problem at the moment as his son was sentenced to jail. Adam pleaded guilty to stabbing his Southern California neighbor with a hunting knife and got 180 days in jail. That’s six months. Will this change in the near future? This was a rather unexpected development.
Adam and his neighbor share a driveway. He stabbed his 60-year-old neighbor several times on June 9. The neighbor confronted him about his roommate’s trashcans. The situation escalated and Adam stabbed his neighbor in the back of the head. He suffered a fractured skull and collapsed outside of the emergency room.
“Adam — who had been accused of slamming a blade through the head of a man after the two had quarreled over trash cans in 2020 — entered guilty pleas to four total charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, at a hearing earlier this week,” wrote TMZ Sports.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s son may not go to jail
The 29-year-old was sentenced Tuesday and will serve his time in jail as he pleaded guilty to three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of carrying a dirk or dagger. Abdul-Jabbar accepted the plea deal from an Orange County judge and the sentence was stayed until Jan. 7 so that Abdul-Jabbar’s son can apply for home confinement instead of jail time. Of course, probation officials have to decide whether Adam will be allowed to do so. Maybe probation officials will choose another option.
Prosecutor expected a different outcome and they sought a seven-year jail sentence.
“This slap on the wrist is an absolute miscarriage of justice,” Orange County D.A. Todd Spitzer told TMZ Sports. “This man nearly bled to death in front of the emergency room doors after being stabbed so violently over and over that his skull was fractured. We believe the complete disregard for human life over a dispute over trashcans is so egregious it warranted prison time.”
Adam’s neighbor is alive, but prosecutors expected a different result. It was definitely a tragic situation and the judge made a decision.
