ESPN Analyst Predicts “Breakout QB” For 2022 Season

ESPN listed each and every breakout QB for the 2022 season and guess who sits on top of their list.

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones.

You read it right. Kimberley Martin from ESPN would bet on the Patriots rookie. We have a few good reasons to believe that many analysts would agree with Martin on this one.

“I’m all in on Mac Jones in 2022,” Martin said on Friday’s episode of Get Up. “Here’s the thing — he’s literally what we expected. He was a guy that’s going to come into the league and be one of the most pro-ready guys. You knew he could read defenses. You know he could process quickly. That’s something you can’t say for some of the veteran quarterbacks in the league.

“Jones will take another step. He will get better. He will be a very good QB.”

ESPN bets on the breakout QB for the 2022 season

Martin predicted an excellent season with Jones. He was brilliant in 2021, leading the Patriots to a seven-game winning streak. Jones worked with a good group of players and they had great performance this past season. Bill Belichick had a good prediction for Jones and he decided to use his 15th overall pick on the Alabama prospect. Belichick watched Jones on his Pro Day and I guess he really liked it.

Jones was brilliant in 2021 and had better performance than other rookie quarterbacks. He finished the season with 22 touchdowns and 3,801 yards while stacking 13 interceptions on a 67.6 completion percentage.

The Patriots will face serious competition in the 2022 season. Martin had a few questions about Jones’ performance in 2022 and most of these questions were related to the competition.

“The question is the ceiling,” Martin said. “Will Mac Jones ever have that wow factor where you watch a Joe Burrow, watch a Justin Herbert. That remains to be seen.”

Jones will use the offseason to rest and prepare for 2022. He will use his time off to make some changes and this definitely includes his diet. Jones really promised to cut his ice cream.
