Patriots Need To Sign A Veteran Wide Receiver Now

Julian Edelman left the New England Patriots after a decade. Head coach Bill Belichick brought a few wide receivers to fill the void Edelman left behind. He even selected a wideout in the first round of the NFL draft. N’Keal Harry failed to deliver and he may soon part ways with the team. Some of the players Belichick brought to New England failed to perform, too. Truth is, the Patriots really need to sign a veteran wide receiver. Finding someone like Edelman will be really hard.

What about Odell Beckham Jr.? He is available again. The Cleveland Browns sent him to Los Angeles and he won a ring with the Rams. Some of his former teammates want him to go to New England. Of course, he would love to get a better deal this time.

Patriots to sign veteran wide receiver by the end of the offseason

The Patriots have shown interest in Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Cole Beasley, Julio Jones, Allen Robinson, Robby Anderson, and many others. Beckham was their target for years.

Mike Giardi from NFL Network reported that the Patriots did an effort to get Robinson and Anderson. Robinson inked a three-year deal worth $45 million.

“The Patriots have done what one source described to me as ‘excessive’ work on a variety of vet WRs available either in free agency (yes, including Allen Robinson) and those who might be available via trade (Robby Anderson, as first reported by @GregABedard),” said Giardi.

The number of star wideouts on the market is not that big right now. Ty Montgomery joined the Patriots through a two-year deal worth $3.6 million. Well, Belichick needs more than that.

Belichick will have to give Mac Jones enough weapons in 2022. The quarterback led the team to a seven-game winning streak in 2021. He could do better than this but he needs strong weapons. Let’s see what happens this offseason. The Patriots have plenty of time to get what they need. Cornerbacks, linebackers, receivers, etc. Who is the next player to join the team? NFL experts have a few predictions.
