Patriots Projected to Draft Player With ‘Tyreek-Hill-Like In-Game Speed’

The New England Patriots will enter the 2022 NFL Draft hoping to get the right player options for the upcoming season. Head coach Bill Belichick has to fill a few holes on his roster and this year’s class offers plenty of talent.

Mel Kiper Jr. from ESPN believes that the Patriots should use their No.21 pick to get Alabama Crimson Tide star Jameson Williams. He has great potential but tore his ACL recently.

In 2021, the player recorded 79 passes for team-high 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns.

“I projected Williams here in my debut mock in mid-January, and it is a nice fit,” Kiper wrote. “Williams, who tore his ACL in the national title game, had a tremendous season for the Crimson Tide, with 1,572 yards and 15 scores. He said at the combine that he’s ahead of his schedule in his recovery, but it’s possible he misses a chunk of the season while rehabbing. New England could afford to wait for a receiver with true No. 1 upside who could be a star for years to come. And we know Belichick has a history of taking Alabama stars.”

Patriots to draft a talented player

Williams has great expectations despite the fact that he had a surgery six weeks ago. He has been walking without the brace for a couple of weeks and his development goes really well.

“I was hearing five to seven months, but I’m hearing I’m ahead of schedule,” Williams said earlier this month. “I’m six weeks out of surgery right now. I’ve been walking without the brace for two weeks, without the crutch for three weeks. Hopefully things keep going on this track, and I’ll be back as soon as possible.”

Williams won’t jump into game action right away. He will probably miss the first two months of the regular season which is not that bad because he is an exceptional player.

Head coach Bill Belichick doesn’t have enough depth at receiver. Julian Edelman is not playing anymore and the Patriots could really use someone like him.
