Lakers Could Trade Anthony Davis For $130 Million Star And Former No.1 Pick

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t trade Russell Westbrook in the offseason, but they may trade Anthony Davis for a former first-round pick. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka has yet to make a big move. He traded for Patrick Beverley, but the veteran won’t solve his problems.

When healthy, AD is one of the better players in the NBA. However, he missed significant time in the last couple of seasons. Yes, Davis led the team to a title in his first season as a Laker, but teams are now worried about his health. If Davis misses more time, his value will decline.

Lakers trade package revolving around Anthony Davis will boost their rival

Sean Deveney from Heavy.com discussed a potential deal with a Western Conference executive. This deal would help the Lakers get DeAndre Ayton and Cam Johnson. The Phoenix Suns are getting AD.

“Phoenix would be an interesting fit too, once Ayton can be traded,” the executive said. “They could do Cam Johnson and Ayton, something like that. I am sure some in L.A. would expect a big return for Davis but with the injuries the last few years, it would be tough to trade him. There’s a lot of reasons why they’d keep him but that is one – you’re not going to get fair value because of the injuries.”

Pelinka wouldn’t trade AD that easily. Why would the front office trade a star to the rival? Davis is a star. Pairing him with Chris Paul could turn into a nightmare for the Lakers. Throw Devin Booker in the mix and you get a powerful duo. Pelinka wouldn’t take this risk at any cost.

The Lakers traded a good chunk of the roster to get AD. They gave up on a few young talents to get him from the New Orleans Pelicans. Why would they trade him at this point?

LeBron James and AD have established a really good relationship. They became a powerful duo and the Lakers can really rely on their chemistry. Davis’ health is the only problem at the moment. He feels and looks great, so there shouldn’t be a problem heading into the new season.
