Patriots Interested In Receiver Who Bested Justin Jefferson

The New England Patriots made some unexpected moves so far in the offseason. They didn’t play well in 2022 and head coach Bill Belichick decided to reshape his roster. Jakobi Meyers is gone and the team let him go as if it was nothing. JuJu Smith-Schuster stepped in as his replacement. The Patriots are now interested in a wide receiver who did better than Justin Jefferson.

Bisi Johnson joined the Patriots for a visit. He spent two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, delivering 45 receptions for483 yards and three touchdowns. He tore his ACL in 2022 and the team placed him on injured reserve. Let’s not forget that Johnson suffered the same injury in 2021.

Injuries plagued Johnson and affected his performance. He could’ve been better than Jefferson.

Patriots are interested in the talented receiver despite his injuies

Chad Graff from The Athletic shared his thoughts on Johnson and his potential. He shared a detailed explanation of Johnson’s rookie campaign and mentioned the fact that the Vikings gave him the No.2 WR spot for a reason. Sadly, Johnson didn’t meet expectations and the team moved on with JJ.

Bisi Johnson was a Gary Kubiak pick in 2019,” Graff tweeted. “He had a great preseason which led to him making the team. Had 294 yards as a rookie. In ’20, he won the No. 2 WR job over Justin Jefferson. But production didn’t follow and they switched to JJ.”

New England has a few open spots on the roster. They also have a few major issues to handle. Belichick lost valuable players, but he has plenty of time to fix the damage.

It’s more than obvious that the Patriots plan to get rid of players who look like an obstacle at the moment. Brian Hoyer is one of the players who had to leave the team. The 37-year-old was cut after his third stint with the team. The Patriots cut Hoyer after 76 regular-season games. He completed 902 of his 1,518 passes for 10,668 yards and 53 touchdowns in his time with the Patriots. Add 35 interceptions to this chart.
