Team-Altering Trade Proposal Sends Veteran Pro Bowl QB To Patriots

The New England Patriots have to play smart this offseason. The Patriots still have to find the best solution for the quarterback situation, leading us to a Pro Bowl QB. Mac Jones led the team in 2021 and 2022, but he may lose his job to a younger opponent this season.

Jones suffered an injury last season and Bailey Zappe stepped in as his replacement. Did it work? We have people saying that Zappe should replace Jones in 2023. Truth is, Jones struggled in his second year with the Patriots. He didn’t embrace the offensive plan and things went down the hill for him. The Patriots hired Bill O’Brien and Jones could really work well together.

Patriots to benefit from the Pro Bowl QB

Jeremy Flower from ESPN discussed Ryan Tannenhill’s future in the NFL. According to Gary Davenport, the Patriots could sign the Pro Bowl QB quarterback.

“That rift has led to speculation that the Patriots could be willing to part with Jones,” Davenport wrote referring to a reported rift between Jones and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. “And while the Pats also have Bailey Zappe on the roster, moving Jones would leave the Patriots with a quandary at quarterback. Unless, of course, the Pats flipped one quarterback for another. New England isn’t a rebuilding team—the Pats of aspirations of contending in 2023. If Belichick truly is ready to move on from Jones, then a QB swap with the Titans could help keep New England in the hunt in 2023.

“Perhaps the change of scenery would help Jones recapture his 2021 form. And with at least two years left on his rookie deal, the Titans would have options under center moving forward.”

The Patriots should be really careful with their quarterback position. Tannenhill had less than 3,000 yards in 2022 and delivered 13 touchdowns and six interceptions to his game.

In 2023, Tannenhill will be 35. In other words, he is past his prime time. Will Bill Belichick go after someone like him?
