DeAndre Hopkins Sends Strong Message After Report Of Patriots Workout

The New England Patriots have been linked to DeAndre Hopkins for a really long time and his workout with the team is making the biggest headlines this week. The free agent left the Arizona Cardinals and many believe that he is on his way to the Patriots.

Hopkins is an incredible player and his game is elite. He may be 31, but he hasn’t seen a major decline in his performance. Yes, NFL analysts had some concerns about his future in the NFL, but Hopkins is willing to play his best football once again.

“Shhhh. I’m old and can’t get open,” Hopkins wrote in a retweet of points made by fantasy football expert Sal Vetri.

In 2022, the talented wide receiver “ranked second at beating man coverage” and also “earned 10.7 targets per game,” per Vetri. The football expert also wrote that Hopkins “was eight best at earning targets per route run.”

“This shows he had no drop off in his ability to get open,” Vetri wrote.

Patriots and Titans have big plans for Hopkins amid his workout

The Patriots aren’t the only team to show interest in acquiring Hopkins. He is visiting the Tennessee Titans this weekend and this visit could have a big impact on his decision.

Bill Belichick and his team are coming off a disappointing season. The offense struggled once again. Finding the best quarterback seems to be a priority right now, but Hopkins doesn’t mind joining a team that doesn’t have a star quarterback. He could catch passes from Mac Jones. He could catch passes from Bailey Zappe.

The Patriots lost Jakobi Meyers in the offseason. They have JuJu Smith-Schuster, but Hopkins would be a much better option for the team. In the last two seasons, Hopkins caught 106 passes for 1,289 yards and 11 touchdowns in 19 games. That’s something Belichick could work with in 2023.

“I’m a fan of D-Hop. It would be cool,” Bourne told reporters via Patriots.com. “I don’t know the gist of what’s going on, but he is a great player. Anything that would help us win, I’m with.”
