Bill Belichick Sends Prayers For Maine Community After Wednesday’s Mass Shooting

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick shared an emotional message following the mass shooting in Maine, sending his thoughts and prayers to victims’ families.

The tragedy struck Maine Wednesday night and dozens of innocent people lost their lives. Belichick addressed the shooting at the beginning of the press conference Friday.

“It’s obviously a tragic situation. They’re great fans of ours, great friends up there and Maine is a great place. I feel bad for the pain and situation that they’re going through,” Belichick said. “You know, Lewiston and Bowdoin, a lot of connections and a lot of my friends went there. I know the area pretty well, it’s very sad and difficult.”

The team discussed the tragedy and sadly, this is not the first discussion of this kind. Belichick also said that players and coaches also discussed the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012. Two terrible tragedies took place in the area and citizens still mourn the death of innocent kids.

“It’s kind of like the Connecticut situation a few years back, not the same, but it’s just sad, tragic, and sounds like it’s not over yet,” Belichick said in reference to the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012.

Belichick, Kraft address Maine shooting

Team owner Robert Kraft also delivered a statement following the shooting and sent a message to everyone who lost someone close in the tragedy.

“The senseless act of violence that unfolded last night in Lewiston, Maine has left all of us across New England in shock and mourning,” the Patriots owner wrote in his statement. “My heart goes out to the families, friends and loved ones of the victims, who are dealing with unimaginable pain and loss. Let us remember the victims, honor their lives, and continue to fight hate and violence in order to prevent these horrific tragedies.”

We all hope for a safe and better world for us and our families and also send our thoughts and prayers to families in Maine.
