Patriots’ Bill Belichick Won’t Discuss Decision That Led To Matthew Judon Injury

Head coach Bill Belichick is a man of a few words. He rarely gives a detailed response to questions asked by the media. Everyone knows it. Belichick would rarely discuss a decision he made, and this sure applies to the one that led to Matthew Judon injury. He is even worse after a bad loss.

The New England Patriots suffered a big blow in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. It was bad in every aspect of the game. New England has a 1-3 record at the moment and Belichick is not in the best mood.

Everyone was so intrigued by Belichick’s decision to bench quarterback Mac Jones in favor of Bailey Zappe late in the third quarter.

“I didn’t think there was any point in leaving him in the game,” the Patriots head coach responded. It was a lost game and Belichick didn’t want Jones to get injured.

Could Belichick avoid the injury Judon suffered?

Enter Matthew Judon. Why did Belichick leave him on the field in the fourth quarter? He is a key player after all.

“You’ve got to put somebody out there,” Belichick explained. Sort of.

Keeping Judon on the field turned out to be a bad decision. He suffered a biceps tear and left the game early in the fourth quarter. He did an MRI and we are still waiting for an update on his condition. According to analysts, Judon could miss the entire season.

Judon is a key player for the Patriots and losing him to an injury would be a big blow for the team. He played 143 snaps in the first three games of the season, delivering 4.0 sacks in this period. Keep in mind that he had his career-high sacks last season.

Defensive lineman Deatrich Wise shared his opinion on Judon’s injury and he couldn’t hide his concerns.

“Devastating,” Wise said. “But he was in good spirits, and we’ll be with him mentally throughout the year. I know he will be with us too. There will some guys behind him that will be stepping up and filling his spot…I really don’t know (if he will miss time). I just always hate when guys get hurt.”
