Patriots Pro Bowler Expected To Bolt In Free Agency

The New England Patriots have a 3-1 record at this point of the season, but they still have time to save the season. NFL analysts wouldn’t say the same for players on the Patriots roster and some of them believe that at least one player will leave the team in free agency.

Alex Ballentine from Bleacher Report was the first to discuss this topic. According to him, Patriots Pro Bowler Trent Brown may leave the team next offseason. He may ask for a bigger deal and we can’t really say that Belichick will give him one. The New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys won’t waste their time and both organizations will try to snatch the talented offensive tackle. Ballentine advised the Patriots to make a move and keep Brown around.

“The Patriots should be interested in re-signing him, but that’s getting more expensive by the week,” Ballentine wrote. “The New York Jets should be willing to do whatever it takes to improve their pass protection, while the Dallas Cowboys could pivot from Tyron Smith to Brown.”

Patriots to secure their Pro Bowler before he enters free agency

Brown is a talented player and he can do left tackle as well. He has a two-year deal worth $13 million and yes, he could go after a better deal. Let’s not forget that Pro Football Focus gave him the second-highest grade among all tackles this season. Well, Belichick should make a move and keep his talented player in New England. Losing Brown would be a terrible blow for the team.

“His 84.2 overall grade is nearly 10 points higher than his previous career high [74.4] in 2021,” Ballentine added.

What about Brown’s injuries? He sustained injury and the Patriots listed him as questionable for the upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints. He was a limited participant on Friday’s practice and also missed the second game of the season after suffering a concussion.

There are several potential scenarios for the team and keeping Brown on the roster should be considered a priority.
