Patriots Veteran DB Fires Out Unhappiness With Coaching Decisions

The New England Patriots will have to make some changes to make things work for the team. The organization has already made changes to adjust the roster. Head coach Bill Belichick has to move on from some of the players. It’s not like they plan to give up on them all. They are just pushing them down the depth chart. Jalen Mills is one of them and the Patriots veteran is not too happy about the recent coaching decisions.

Mills lost his starting position with the Patriots. Belichick would gladly use anyone else before him. Christian Gonzales missed the game last week and Belichick didn’t even consider using Mills.

In his first season with the Patriots, Mills played 90% of the snaps. He plays 24% of the Patriots snaps this season.

The Patriots suffered a terrible blowout to the New Orleans Saints. ESPN’s Mike Reiss tweeted out player snap counts, and Mills had just 10. The veteran DB was far from happy. “10 snaps,” the veteran replied and also added a sad emoji.

Patriots veteran may leave the team after the coaching decision

The NFL world discussed Mills’ next move. He could be sent to the Green Bay Packers.

“Veteran defensive back Jalen Mills would be a great trade candidate considering he’s only a depth option but performing well when he does see the field,” B/R discussed this week.

“Mills has contributed nine tackles while earning a respectable 75.6 PFF grade this year. He could net the (Patriots) one of the many Day 3 draft picks it will need to overhaul the roster. The Green Bay Packers have some glaring holes within their secondary, and a versatile safety like Mills could help plug a gap for that up-and-coming club.”

Defensive tackle Lawrence Guy discussed Mills’ role with the Patriots. He understands him perfectly, because he had to go through the same nightmare.

“I’ve been there. 2019,” Guy told the media on Thursday. “Miami game, I had 14 snaps, I think. The next game, I had like nine snaps. Next game, I had 10 snaps. I’ve been in that frustration part. … He works hard works hard every single day. He understands. You ask questions in a meeting, he knows that meeting. He knows the answer. He’s like, ‘Boom’ — he can spit it out. It’s just how the dice are rolled right now.”
