Patriots Could Sign Mac Jones Replacement & Pass Rusher In Projected Draft Trade

The New England Patriots may need a replacement for some of their players, including Mac Jones and a few others. The third-year quarterback hasn’t met expectations yet and analysts believe that the Patriots are better off without him. Well, Jones is not too happy with the way receivers handle the game either. Parting ways could be the way to go for both sides.

Chris Trapasso from CBS Sports suggest that the Patriots can do a trade to get a decent replacement for Jones in the 2024 NFL Draft. It’s a realistic scenario after all. We could all agree that the Patriots need to make some changes before it’s too late.

According to Trapasso, the Patriots could start by trading their fifth-overall pick to the Denver Broncos to get the 10th selection and get Michigan passer J.J. McCarthy. Does this make sense for the team? This could be an unexpected move for the Patriots.

“The Patriots net a 2025 second-round pick, a 2024 fourth-round pick and Baron Browning in this trade and still land a talented quarterback prospect inside the top 10.”

Are the Patriots even looking for a replacement for Jones?

New England had issues on both sides of the field. They made some changes to the coaching last season. It didn’t work and head coach Bill Belichick hired Bill O’Brien as the next offensive coordinator. It was supposed to be a good move and many expected to be the best solution for the struggles Jones had during games.

In the loss to the Commanders, Jones couldn’t connect with his receivers and even missed a throw to Tyquan Thornton. He launched a perfect pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster, but the latter dropped it.

Belichick is the best to ever coach a NFL team and the losing record is not his fault. Yes, he could have done things differently but players need to elevate their game in order to make an impact.

Let’s see how things go for the team. Experts have come up with wild scenarios about the next move within the organization? Who will be the first to go?
