Bill Belichick Coaching Speculation Gains Steam Amid Chargers Firings

The New England Patriots may soon have a change in the coaching staff, meaning they could part ways with legendary Bill Belichick. If this happens, the Patriots head coach will have to find a home somewhere else. The Los Angeles Chargers fired head coach Brandon Staley, meaning there is an empty spot for Belichick. They also fired general manager Tom Telesco after the loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chargers decided to change their entire system and getting Belichick makes sense. He could help the team make the playoffs again. Fun fact? Belichick was also the Patriots de facto general manager. He could do both jobs for the Chargers as well.

“The Chargers have routinely been a team that oozes talent on both sides of the ball,” Tyler Sullivan from CBS Sports noted. Belichick likes talented players and this could ease his departure from New England. He will have a chance to work with Justin Herbert once he returns to game action.

“Herbert is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL when healthy, and if Belichick aligns himself with the former first-round pick and builds a winning culture around him, the sky is the limit for Los Angeles,” Sullivan explained.

Patriots could send Belichick to the Chargers

The Patriots are expected to part ways with Belichick after the regular season. Sources say the team made the decision after the loss in Germany. Belichick doesn’t say a word about his firing and neither does Robert Kraft.

Henry McKenna from Fox Sports bets on Belichick’s firing. He has a new deal with the team and the Patriots can use him as a trade asset. If they send him away, the team will get great players and picks in return. The question is next… Is Kraft willing to trade the best head coach in league history?

“Is there any scenario where Robert Kraft gets on the phone with Dean Spanos to see if the Chargers have trade interest for Bill Belichick? The Patriots can see what Jerod Mayo does as interim head coach,” McKenna wrote. “The Chargers could get Belichick in the building to bring some stability.”
