LeBron James Addresses Manager Maverick Carter’s NBA Bets

Maverick Carter made headlines with his betting scandal and reporters thought it would be nice to ask LeBron James about it.

Carter’s admission of placing bets through an illegal bookie caught the attention of fans across the nation. What does LeBron say about this? We do know he has zero concerns about Carter’s situation.

“No,” the four-time NBA champion said when asked if he is worried about the whole situation. “Because that’s the only reason it got any legs in the first place because he’s so close to me. But Maverick’s his own man and at the end of the day, gambling is legal. I mean, you can go on your phone right now and do whatever you want. And he has no affiliation with the NBA or NFL, so, he can do what he wants to do.”

Carter made the surprising admission during his November 21 interview with federal agents involved in the Wayne Nix case. The bookie pleaded guilty and Carter was not charged.

LeBron knows that Carter is not in trouble

LeBron and Carter are really close friends and business partners. They own SpringHill Entertainment and also have minority stakes in Liverpool FC and the Boston Red Sox.

NBA players, teams and league officials are not allowed to gamble on NBA games. Players’ business managers and agents are not included in the NBA policy.

The NBPA, on the other hand, forbids agents from engaging in any kind of betting on league games. Carter is not in trouble as he is LeBron’s business manager. Rich Paul is his agent at Klutch Sports and Carter has nothing to do with the NBA. He doesn’t even have to follow the NBPA rule.

Carter claimed that he hadn’t placed any bets for other people. He even said that he doesn’t remember betting on the Lakers.

It was quite a scandal not so long ago, but Carter got out of it with minimum damage.

When it comes to LeBron, he is still a dominant force. His Los Angeles Lakers look good right now and this is just the beginning.
