Patriots Backup Sends Surprise Motivational Message To Team

New England Patriots backup tight end Pharaoh Brown had a strong message for his coaches and teammates. The Patriots are slowly approaching the end of another dreadful season. They have won just three games so far and fans are disappointed. They are also eliminated from the playoff race. The Patriots may be out of playoff contention but they sure have something to be grateful for.

“(Special teams captain Matthew) Slater was actually in the meeting talking, and it just dawned on me,” Brown told NESN.com on Friday. “I just spoke it to the team, and it touched a few of the guys. That’s just how I approach the game. I usually don’t talk much. I just got here. But it just was on my heart.”

Patriots backup stands for gratitude

The Patriots have a lot to play for and Brown knows it best. Things didn’t go well for the Patriots, but they all have someone who roots for them.

“The (3-11) record isn’t everybody wanted it to be, and you always hear people saying, ‘Oh, we don’t got nothing to lose,’ ” Brown added. “But when you really look at it, we’ve all got families. We’ve all got people that care for us. We’ve all got a lot of people around here that put a lot of stuff into this, and that’s enough to play for.

“So just having that gratitude for the game and just going out and having that confidence. I feel like when I hear, ‘Oh, you’ve got nothing to lose,’ your confidence is low. No, the results are not working, but you’ve just got to keep that confidence.”

Patriots tight end David Andrews couldn’t agree more. He discussed Brown’s message during Wednesday’s press conference. Andrews noted that all players play to represent themselves, their family, the team, and even the community.

New England players face serious obstacles right now, but they are motivated to move on with a great goal. Let’s see what happens in the offseason. Who is the first to go?
