Patriots Expected To Sign $11 Million Star RB In 2024

The New England Patriots have to improve several positions heading in the offseason. They may need a new quarterback and wide receivers. According to NFL analysts, the Patriots may also sign a RB next season.

Alex Kay from Bleacher Report expects a big move for the Patriots. According to Kay, the Patriots may make an effort to sign Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs in 2024 free agency. Head coach Bill Belichick may be interested in getting a new running back as his team only averages four yards per carry.

“While Jacobs is still finding the end zone somewhat regularly (he has six touchdowns on the year) and is flirting with a career-best showing as a pass-catcher—he has 35 receptions for 280 yards over the first 12 games—his market won’t be too hot due to his meager 3.5 yards per carry,” Kay wrote on November 29.

“Jacobs looks primed to land with a non-contender for 2024, likely one flush with cap space that needs a ball carrier to shoulder a heavy load due to a lack of talent under center.”

Jacobs is on one-year deal with the Raiders. Spotrac predicted a $10.8 deal (or less) for him in the upcoming season. Las Vegas has made multiple changes and the front office may decide to move on from the running back.

Patriots have a reason to sign another RB

The Patriots gear up for major changes in the upcoming season. Rhamondre Stevenson is under contract for the 2024 NFL season. However, Ezekiel Elliot may enter the open market and go somewhere else. He wasn’t a major factor for the team this season and has 20 catches for 114 yards. Elliot averages 5.7 yards per reception.

Stevenson has a decent performance and has 147 attempts for 580 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 37 catches for 238 yards. He is consistent and durable, but Belichick needs a backup for him.

Getting Jacobs makes sense for the Patriots, but we will have to wait until the offseason to see what happens with this position.
