Lakers’ Rob Pelinka Advised To ‘Inquire’ About $96 Million Alternative Trade Target

Los Angeles Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka has at least one trade target on their table. He can trade most of the players on the roster and bring new names to LA. Dejounte Murray and Zach LaVine have been mentioned in most trade scenarios for the Lakers. Well, Brian Windhorst from ESPN is not a fan of the LaVine trade.

“If I’m Rob Pelinka, though, there’s not a store with 30 guys available. But it’s not just LaVine or Dejounte Murray,” ESPN’s Tim MacMahon said on “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” on January 15.

“I’m calling Charlotte, I’m inquiring about Terry Rozier, I’m at least checking to see if he might be available at a significantly lower cost. Because I think that that’s a guy who would give you a lot of the stuff you need and wouldn’t cost you as much. It’s not the big splash, although he is averaging 23 points per game. Just nobody knows that because the Hornets are so [bad].”

Lakers Pelinka could go after a different trade target

The Lakers signed a group of players in the summer, offering them new deals with the team. Austin Reaves is one of them and he is in the first year of his four-year deal worth $53.8 million. Rui Hachimura signed a three-year deal worth $51 million.

Murray may seem like a good option for the Lakers, but Tim Bontemps doesn’t really see him as a good teammate for LeBron James.

“I don’t think getting Dejounte Murray and giving up a bunch of assets for him when I think it’s a bad fit with LeBron and gonna be clunky and – it still doesn’t solve the overall problem for them,” Tim Bontemps said on the podcast. “They need to go get shooting that could guard. That’s not Dejounte Murray.”

Klutch Sports represents Murray and it is the same agency that represents LeBron and Anthony Davis. Will this ease his way to LA?

Bontemps wouldn’t trade for Murray, but he would definitely trade for Dorian Finney-Smith. The Lakers have already shown interest in the player.
