Patriots’ QB Mac Jones Gets Brutally Honest On Demotion To QB3 Vs. Jets

The New England Patriots had high expectations from Mac Jones a few years ago. He was a great prospect for the team and head coach Bill Belichick decided to turn him into a starting quarterback for the team. Well, Jones had a good first season with the Patriots. His second and third year with the team were disappointing. It was really bad and Jones was the QB3 for the team in the game against the New York Jets. How did he feel about this demotion?

Well, Jones wasn’t really surprised. Some analysts were worried about his future with the team, but Jones wasn’t actually shocked.

In his conversation with Evan Lazar, Jones talked about his current situation in New England. He was a healthy scratch in the game against New York and was fine with it. He expected this outcome because he didn’t see many snaps in practice.

Jones expected to leave the Patriots after becoming QB3

Jones completed another frustrating season with the Patriots. He couldn’t find a way to fit in the gameplan. His struggle was obvious in the last few games. The Alabama quarterback threw four interceptions in the final 2.5 games before Belichick benched him.

Belichick decided not to use Jones in the game against the Jets. Nathan Rourke joined the team in December right after the Jaguars let him go. He was on the Jacksonville roster for a week and has yet to see action in a regular season game.

Many would say that Bailey Zappe was supposed to be benched in the game. He was able to complete just 12 of his 30 passes for 88 yards and two interceptions with a 20.1 passer rating.

The Patriots will have to make a lot of changes in the offseason. They will have to decide on Bill Belichick. Jones’ struggles may put an end to his tenure with the Patriots as well. It will be a long offseason for the Patriots and things won’t end really well for some members of the organization.
