Patriots Star Already Recruits $98 Million Ravens Ex-Teammate

The New England Patriots have to handle their quarterback and receiving units in the offseason. However, the team can still do an effort and add some depth to the cornerback unit. If this is the case, the Patriots could go after Ravens Marlon Humphrey.

Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon is definitely a fan of this idea. He recruited the talented player, but the Ravens will have to let him go first.

The Ravens may already be planning on cutting Humphrey. Yes, the Patriots still have his No.44 jersey.

Patriots may need to call the Ravens for the Humphrey trade

Humphrey signed a five-year contract extension in 2020 and was set to earn $97.5 million. He sustained foot, hamstring, and calf injury, and missed a total of seven games. He didn’t even join the team for the first playoff game against the Houston Texas. If the Ravens want to let him go, now is the perfect time to do that. They can also save $11.8 million.

“Still only 27 years old, Humphrey signed a 5-year contract extension with the Ravens in 2020 worth $97.5 million in new money with $40.3 million in full guarantees at signing. Humphrey has an additional $30 million in vesting and roster bonus guarantees through the contract, bringing the total guarantee to $70.3 million.

“The Ravens converted $9.42 million of salary to a bonus in 2023, creating $7.536 million in cap room. Humphrey’s cap number from 2024 to 2026 increased by $1.884 million annually. There is now an additional void year in 2027.”

Humphrey is a talented player and he won’t have trouble finding a home in the NFL. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and the Patriots have a few good reasons to sign him. He and Judon played together in Baltimore and the Patriots linebacker is trying his best shot to get his former teammate on a plane to Boston.

The Patriots lost Bill Belichick not so long ago. His departure marked the beginning of a new era for the team and this will be one of the longest offseason in team history.
