Lakers’ Anthony Davis Faces Backlash After Loss To Kings

Anthony Davis is one of the better players when healthy. NBA fans and analysts are not questioning his legacy, but everyone seems to be a little concerned about his performance lately. The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a big loss to the Sacramento Kings and Davis was heavily criticized for his role on the floor.

NBA analysts are concerned about the fact that the Defensive Player of the Year candidate struggles when opposing big players. If you are interested in numbers, here is a not so fun fact for you. Davis’ record against Domantas Sabonis is now 0-10.

Former NBA players voiced their concerns about Davis and his performance against Sabonis.

“Sabonis is not intimated by AD at all. He goes at him,” Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe said on his “Nightcap” podcast.

Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas added fuel to the fire.

“Sabonis plays against AD like AD owes him money,” Arenas said. “He owes that man something, because every time he sees AD’s face, he [laughs] just goes off.”

Davis struggled vs Kings, could be removed from the DPOY run

LeBron James believes that his teammate is the perfect candidate for the DPOY award, but Arenas wouldn’t agree with him on this one. According to him, Davis destroyed his chances to win the award this season.

“You’re a top defensive player, and you got a guy coming at your head like you his lunch money out there.”

James Worthy was concerned about Davis’ energy in each of his games against Sabonis.

[Sabonis] is a big and strong guy and you have to be ready for that,” Worthy said on Spectrum SportsNet. “I see that AD had 22 and 10 but I don’t remember that.” Lakers players made big mistakes in the loss to the Kings. The regular season is almost over and they do need to avoid suffering another loss. They are now three games behind the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference standings.
