Patriots Listed As A Fit For $43 Million Receiver

The New England Patriots have been linked to yet another wide receiver. They are trying to rebuild their roster and Jerod Mayo can definitely use new receivers and quarterbacks. New England is considered a great destination for Cincinnati Bengals Tyler Boyd. He is still available on the market and the Patriots are still looking for a receiver.

David Kenyon from Bleacher Report believes that Boyd is one of the best options for the Patriots at this point. Boyd’s four-year deal with the Bengals is officially over. In eight seasons, Boyd recorded 513 catches for 6,000 yards and 31 touchdowns, and also eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark on two occasions. The talented receiver averages 64.1 receptions, 750 yards, and 3.9 touchdowns per season. In 2023, Boyd had 67 catches for 667 yards and two touchdowns. This is much better than anything Patriots wide receivers accomplished in 2023.

“Boyd’s production dipped after the arrivals of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, but he remained an integral part of the offense with 58-plus receptions in all three seasons as the third option,” Kenyon wrote.

“After the Bengals franchise-tagged Higgins this offseason, he requested a trade. There’s no guarantee that he’ll actually leave Cincinnati, though. Boyd could return to the Bengals if they do move on from Higgins, but that’s hardly a guarantee.”

Patriots can afford the Bengals receiver

New England has enough cap space to sign Boyd. According to Spotrac, he will probably get a three-year deal worth $26.14 million. The Patriots have $48.49 million to use. In other words, they can sign Boyd or even a more expensive player.

Boyd is a good option for the Patriots. He won’t cost much and also won’t require a monster deal. He is healthy and strong, meaning he won’t be a regular on the Patriots injury report.

In 2018, Boyd suffered a MCL sprain and sat out two regular-season games. He had the same issue the year before and missed four games.
