Report: Steelers Taking Trade Offers For Le’Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell may join another NFL team in near future.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that the Pittsburgh Steelers are already “listening to trade offers for Le’Veon Bell.” The player hasn’t inked his franchise tag after the Steelers tagged him for the second straight year in March. He’s still living in Miami. The team offered him a five-year deal worth $70 million with $33 million in guaranteed money. Last season, Bell rejected the offer of five years and $13.3 million per active season.

Two weeks ago, Bell was tabbed as the No. 1 running back on the Steelers’ first regular season depth chart entering the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Last week, his name was removed from the chard after he didn’t sign the tender before the team’s first game. This week, Bell’s name was erased from the team’s official roster.

Second year running back Jamer Conner is taking Bell’s spot. During his first NFL start, Conner was able to rush for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns on 31 carries. He managed to catch five passes for 57 yards. In Week 2, the running back scored his third rushing touchdown of the season, and caught all five of his targets for 48 yards.

Bell’s teammates expected that he will show up midweek and sign his franchise tag. However, it turns out that Bell wasn’t coming back for the Cleveland game. Pro Bowler center Maurkice Pouncey and other players sounded off on Bell, noting that he may skip the entire season.

Some of the comments were walked back, but Bell’s reputation in the Steelers’ locker room is severely wounded.
When asked about Bell, Ben Roethlisberger said he was focusing on the team’s upcoming opponent, adding that he hadn’t reached out to his teammate.

Let’s see how will Bell and the Steelers solve the problem.
