Phillip Dorsett Broke Silence On NFL Future, Potential Return To Patriots

The New England Patriots may be looking for a wide receiver in the offseason. Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson and Phillip Dorsett will become free agents on March 13.

Hogan has attracted the attention of several teams, and the same applies to Patterson. The Patriots used him as receiver, return man and running back. Dorsett was brilliant in the Divisional Round and the AFC Championship Game. The receiver talked to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, and opened up about the potential return to Foxboro.

“I’ve never been through this process. I don’t know what the future holds for me,” he said. “I believe [Bill Belichick] wants me back, but you never know how it will go. Obviously, I want to be a key contributor for a team — a starter, that’s always been my goal, a guy that can help a team win. I enjoy going out there, working hard, and just playing football. I love the game. It’s the only thing I want to do.”

Dorsett was part of several trade rumors in 2018. He did not pay much attention to the rumors, and focused on the big game. The good news is the fact that he really likes the Patriots.

“I heard about it,” Dorsett said earlier in the season when asked if he had heard the rumors. “I try to stay off social media but obviously everything comes to you, but I didn’t have a reaction. I’ve been traded before, so it was kind of nerve-wracking. I did get a little startled. I’m not going to lie. I’m just glad I’m here. Thankful that I’m still here.

“I love it here. For me to get traded again, it would’ve been tough. I would’ve been a little shook, but like I said, I’m here. I’m just thankful I’m still here. I’m giving this team everything I’ve got every day on the practice field, and whatever they ask me to do, I do.
