Shannon Sharpe Releases Bold Statement On Possible Antonio Brown To Patriots Trade

Antonio Brown was related to several names in the league, but former NFL tight end turned FS1 talking head Shannon Sharpe views one strong connection.

According to Shannon Sharpe, the New England Patriots are probably the only team to handle Brown at the moment.

“The only team that’s equip both quarterback, coach, GM, ownership, to handle him — and the Steelers will never trade him there — is New England,” Sharpe said. “Wherever you fly in there, guess what? You left your ego in the city that you came from. If you check your ego at the door you might say ‘Oh, I’m Antonio Brown’ and go back and grab it. Nah, when you go play for the Patriots, you leave your ego in the city that you came from. That’s not flying with Bill Belichick.

“No Skip, I’m not touching him. Arizona Cardinals, you’d be a foot to touch this man.”

“This had been building,”  ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said. “Drew Rosenhaus [Brown’s agent] told ESPN a few weeks ago that he had told the Steelers Brown’s ‘position’ on things. Many close to Brown believe he was done playing scapegoat for Steelers‘ problems and wanted new start.”

Jerome Bettis, said that Brown is not be blamed for his situation. “This goes all the way to the top for allowing the culture to exist,” he said.

“Coach Tomlin came in and said, ‘I’m going to let these men self-check themselves because that’s what these guys should be able to do.’ Well, guess what? When you had multiple leaders on the team, it was effective,” Bettis added. “But as those leaders start diminishing, you didn’t have those strong leaders to take their place. Ben is the only guy who is there as a leader. Where is all of the defensive leadership? All of those guys are gone. It’s younger players now. It didn’t happen overnight. It’s not hard to see.”
