Warriors Made Official Decision On Kevin Durant’s Status For Game 1 Of NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors are back to the NBA Finals, and Kevin Durant’s status is officially announced.

The team will play Game 1 without Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins as they are both sidelined due to an injury. We’ve heard so many rumors regarding Durant’s recovery and his calf injury. Cousins suffered a torn left quad.

The Golden State provided an update on Durant’s status on Thursday, and we believe that fans won’t be really happy to read it. Durant was expected to return to the floor for the big game, but it seems like he will return at other point in the NBA Finals.

“Warriors forward Kevin Durant (strained right calf) and center DeMarcus Cousins (torn left quadriceps muscle) were evaluated by the team’s medical staff earlier today.

“Durant, who had not yet been cleared to begin on-court activities, continues to make good progress with his rehabilitation. At this point, it is unlikely that he will play at the beginning of the 2019 NBA Finals, but it’s hopeful that he could return at some point during the series.

“Cousins also continues to make good progress with his rehabilitation and practiced with the team today for the first time since suffering the injury on April 16. It’s anticipated that he will play at some point during the 2019 NBA Finals, but the exact date is to be determined and depends on his progress.

“The status for both players will be updated next Wednesday.”

Durant suffered an injury in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Houston Rockets on May 8. Cousins suffered a torn left quad injury in Game 2 on April 15.

The Warriors are ready for the Milwaukee Bucks. The Toronto Raptors are tied at two-all in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Golden State hasn’t suffered a defeat since Durant’s injury. The team won Games 5 and 6 against the Houston Rockets without their star player and won four games against the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals.

The Warriors have a backup plan for the best team in the Eastern Conference, and they will play their Game 1 without Durant and Cousins.
