New England Patriots Lose Linebacker Off Practice Squad

The New England Patriots have two games left of the regular season. The Buffalo Bills will arrive at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, and the Miami Dolphins will come to town next week. When it comes to the Dolphins, the team may easily become the “Tropical New England Patriots.” Wonder why? They added another Patriot on Tuesday. Former Patriots linebacker Calvin Munson left the practice squad and signed a contract with the Dolphins. He is the second player from the Patriots’ practice squad to go to Miami this month. Defensive back Nate Brooks is a Dolphin, too.

Overall, Munson is the fifth player from the Patriots practice squad to sign with the Dolphins this season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars added center Tyler Gauthier to their roster earlier this month. In October, the Baltimore Ravens signed defensive end Ufomba Kamalu and the Houston Texans got offensive tackle Dan Skipper.

The Miami Dolphins are coached by Brian Flores who was an assistant in New England. Dolphins offensive coordinator Chad O’Shea, assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schulpinski and cornerbacks coach Josh Boyer are former Patriots assistants.

Miami has former Patriots cornerbacks Eric Row and Jomal Wiltz on the roster.

Former Patriots cornerbacks Ryan Lewis, Aqib Talib, and Ken Webster are placed on injured reserve. The team previously had former Patriots cornerback Johnson Bademosi on the active roster. The Dolphins are playing smart here because Flores knew New England really well, and coaching players he is familiar with will surely help his current team.

The Patriots have eight healthy players on the practice unit:

WR Quincy Adeboyejo

WR Devin Ross

G Najee Toran

DE Tashawn Bower

DE Eric Lee

DT Nick Thurman

LB Terez Hall

S Adarius Pickett

S Obi Melifonwu (injured)

New England plays the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, and that will be the final tough game for the seasons. Miami isn’t considered a threat to the team. Head coach Bill Belichick led the players to a win, and we believe they will repeat the same again. New England lost four games, and hopefully, the team will win the remaining two games on the regular season.
