NFL Investigating Patriots Over Allegations They Spied On Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals weren’t happy to see the New England Patriots’ production man shooting their sideline in Cleveland. The Patriots informed the Cleveland Browns, but the NFL and Cincinnati didn’t know anything about this. So, the league is now opening an investigation into the allegations.

The Browns gave New England permission to shoot during the game for a segment called “Do Your Job.” The Patriots staffer was wearing a Patriots shirt, and the whole case is now reported to the NFL. They confiscated the video and review the footage to see if there was a “spy game.”

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor didn’t say much about the incident, but he confirmed the investigation. He said, “I’m aware that there was an incident but the league is investigating it, so I’ve got no comment.”

Taylor didn’t say much, but Patriots head coach Bill Belichick sure did. He had a really good reason to explain the whole thing. In 2007, Belichick was fined $500K, the team was fined $250K and New England lost a 1st round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. It was SpyGate, everybody!

Belichick is well aware of the situation, and he said it was the Patriots’ production crew. He as a coach is in no way related to anything the organization produces, directs or shoots. Belichick has never seen any of the tapes, and he also said his players have zero involvement with the taping. The coach encouraged everyone to contact the production people to see if they really spied the Bengals. Belichick and his players have never seen pieces of the shootings before the final product is released on TV.

Belichick has nothing to do with the Bengals sideline

“Yeah, I heard about this, and evidently this is our production people on the TV show that were there,” he said. “I have absolutely nothing to do — we have absolutely nothing to do with anything that they produce, direct, shoot or anything. I’ve never even seen any of their tapes or anything else. So this is something that we 100 percent have zero involvement with. This is something that you would have to talk to the production people about and what they were doing and whatever it was. We’ve never seen anything that they’ve shot, other than what’s been on TV.”

NESN’s Doug Kyed reported that New England has sent a production team to shoot for the team’s “Do Your Job” web series. Apparently, they made a mistake.

Belichick kept saying that his team has zero involvement with the production department. Recording their opponent’s sideline is illegal, and the NFL has a nice fine for that. So, no, they weren’t cheating.

Let’s see how the whole spying thing ends for the Patriots. They are preparing for the Bengals, and hopefully, this scandal won’t affect the outcome of their game. It shouldn’t affect the final result, because the production man is in no way related to Bill Belichick and his game planning. Belichick never needed a spy to win games. He’s been leading the Patriots to so many wins, and it’s really inappropriate to say that he cheated.
