Kobe Bryant Addresses LeBron James Being Part Of The Lakers Brotherhood

Only 80 points are standing in the way of LeBron James in his way to match Kobe Bryant on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. And the upcoming Lakers’ road trip might be James’ chance to surpass Bryant and become the third leading scorer in the league’s history.

Bryant shared his thoughts on James in purple and gold.

“When LeBron came to Los Angeles, he is now a Laker, he is part of our brotherhood, part of our fraternity, and we should embrace him that way.

You got to celebrate … appreciate what he is as an athlete while he is here. Appreciate this guy, celebrate what he’s done, because it’s truly remarkable.”

Bryant also commented James approaching his career scoring mark:

“I’ll for sure call him and tell him congratulations. I’m so happy for ‘Bron, all he’s accomplished and continues to accomplish, he’s been great.”

So far this season, James is averaging 25.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 10.9 assists per game, while shooting at 49.2% from the field.

Kobe Giving LeBron A Pair Of Shoes

LeBron shared an unforgettable experience he had with Kobe Bryant in the NBA All-Star Game when he was a junior in high school:

“My junior year in High School…the All-Star game was in Philadelphia. I went to the hotel before All-Star Saturday and [Kobe Bryant] gave me a pair of shoes. That was one of the craziest things for me as a high school junior.”

Both Have Mutual Respect For Each Other

James and Bryant obviously have a ton of respect for each other. This goes way back even when they were competing against each other. However, there had been a divide between Kobe fans and LeBron fans as they wholeheartedly defended their idol and this newest ‘competition’ will also add to the intensity.
