Patriots’ Bill Belichick Stayed Mad At Matt Light For A Month After Failed Prank

Matt Light was lucky to stay on the New England Patriots roster. He used to play pranks on head coach Bill Belichick. Well, the greatest coach of all time didn’t really like the idea of having Light play games.

Light sat down for an interview with his former teammate Willie McGinest from NFL Network. He spoke about his time in New England, and shared details of his infamous prank. Light thought it would be nice if he replaces Belichick’s computer mouse with a zapping mouse. Things went terribly wrong.

“We’re in training camp and I found, online, a mouse that you plugged into your computer,” Light said. “I walked into Bill’s office when he was in a staff meeting and I replaced his mouse with a shocking mouse.”

He forgot about the prank really fast. Berj Najarian, Belichick’s assistant, told him that his prank wasn’t really a good idea. That’s when he realized that he went a little too far.

“That did not go well. He lost all the information on his computer,” Light said. “He was angry at me for about a month. I had to run a little extra in practice. But we made it through it.”

Belichick made Matt Light run

Light spent more than a decade with the Patriots. The mouse prank wasn’t the only thing he did during that time. Light also tried to get his head coach to sign a football. With an exploding pen. His wife, Susie, didn’t like this at all, and she kept asking him to stop doing his pranks. Susie thought that the Patriots would definitely cut her husband.

“My wife on a regular basis would say, ‘Honey, please don’t do that,’” Light said. “’He’s going to fire you this time. He’s going to cut you and you’re not going to have a job.’”

The Patriots didn’t cut him. Light is a three-time Pro Bowler. He had a really great performance with the team and these stories are the best proof for that. The Patriots nation loved every bit of it, and we can’t even imagine the expression on Belichick’s face when he saw the mouse.
