Results From Patriots Latest COVID-19 Tests Revealed

The New England Patriots will probably play against the Denver Broncos without veteran quarterback Cam Newton and cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Newton was the first Patriots player to test positive. Gilmore’s positive test results came a day after the Pats lost to Kansas City. The Patriots have no new positive COVID-19 tests, but they decided to play safe.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Patriots have decided to take additional precautions. They will prepare for the Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos through virtual meetings. Friday’s practice was canceled, too.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year tested positive five days after Newton’s results returned positive. Newton didn’t join the Patriots in the game against Kansas City on Monday night Football. The team lost the game and dropped to 2-2 on the regular season.

We have no information regarding Newton’s status for the game against Denver. New England hopes to have the veteran signal-caller back in action. Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham had their struggles in the game against the Chiefs. Well, coach Bill Belichick benched Hoyer in the third quarter and Stidham hit his first touchdown pass to wideout Cam Newton.

Patriots to play without their superstars due to COVID-19

In his debut with the Patriots, Newton threw for 714 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He rushed for four touchdowns and is 2-1 as a starting quarterback. However, he also has the same number of interceptions as touchdown passes. Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels had a really great plan for Newton and he used his running skills to try a new scheme. It worked and Newton used his legs to give the team a healthy lead.

New England will play against the Broncos on Monday, Oct. 12. The NFL had scheduled the game on Oct. 11, but the recent development has changed the course of future events.

Head coach Belichick is optimistic about the game his players have. Of course, the team has to undergo some serious changes before they make the top. Let’s see what happens on Monday.
