These Young Pats Receivers Could See Opportunities Against Bills

The New England Patriots will enter Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills without two of their three key receivers. Julian Edelman underwent a surgery to fix his knee and N’Keal Harry recovers from the concussion he suffered in the 33-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. This is a horrible scenario for the Patriots right now, and head coach Bill Belichick has to come up with the perfect winning formula. The legendary coach will have to rely on his young Pats receivers.

This includes Isaiah Zuber, Kristian Wilkerson and Mason Kinsey. Edelman and Harry are out, and New England has Damiere Byrd, Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski as the only options right now.

Belichick has great words for his young players.

“They’re all young players,” he said in his Friday morning video conference. “(They’re) working hard, learning, getting better, and we’ll see. There may be an opportunity here. We’ll see how things shake out as we go through the next couple days and so forth. But we work with all the players. We work with the young players, the guys that are on the roster, guys that are on the practice squad.”

NFL experts predict a good game for the young Pats receivers

Zuber has the most experience and he signed with the team right after the 2020 NFL Draft. The talented player ended up on the Patriots practice unit after the team cut him in the final roster trimming. New England used him in three games in the season.

“(Zuber) has the most experience of those players from being here in training camp and having a better background and understanding of what we’re doing,” Belichick said of the Mississippi State product. “But Wilkerson and Kinsey have been here for a while, too, so they’re certainly gaining on that. Zuber’s got good skill. He’s got good size, runs well, catches well, has made some plays with the ball in his hands. So we’ll see.”

“Zuber’s been up for some games this year, but I’d say all of those guys have good qualities to work with,” Belichick said. “We brought Mason back. He was here, and then we had some roster things and had to shuffle around, but we got him back. I’m glad we have him back. So we’ll keep working.

“If they get an opportunity, then I hope they’re ready to take advantage of it.”

Wilkerson and Kinsey have yet to play a regular-season game. Both players were productive at lower levels at college football and spent their training camp with the Tennessee Titans before joining Belichick’s team.

This may be good news for the Patriots nation and fans hope for a win.
