Lakers New Player Shares His Thoughts on Playing Alongside LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers signed a group of talented players in the offseason. General Manager Rob Pelinka found the best names for the current Lakers roster. He had to pair the right players with LeBron James. It looks like he did a wonderful job. One of the newly-added Lakers players really likes playing alongside LeBron James.

Some players had hard time following LeBron on the field. Kyrie Irving couldn’t handle LeBron’s leadership. That’s not the case with Wesley Matthews. LeBron turns his teammates into better players. NBA experts are impressed with his basketball intelligence. LeBron scans the court and challenges his opponents. It didn’t take long for Matthews to realize that LeBron makes things easier for him and those around him.

Following the win over the Chicago Bulls, Matthews talked about his game with LeBron.

“Get ready,” he said. “He sees the court better than anybody… he’s going to do most of the work for you, all you have to do is step in.”

Simple as that.

Los Angeles traded Danny Green for Matthews. The NBA veteran has a good start of his first season as a Laker. He shoots 41% from three. In the game against Chicago, the veteran scored 14 points and shot 4-8 from three. The front office liked his 3&D expertise, and Matthews uses the best of the chance he was offered.

Is LeBron the ultimate playmaker in the NBA? He finished the 2019-20 season as an elite playmaker, averaging 10.2 assists per game with the Lakers. Truth is, LeBron can score whenever he makes an attempt. However, he is trying out a new approach. From what we can see, he really likes this pass-first mentality. That’s why the Lakers brought a group of elite shooters.

Matthews has excellent chemistry with the four-time champion. LeBron spots his teammates and makes a killer pass.

Anthony Davis didn’t play in the game against Chicago, and LeBron led the team in scoring. He finished the evening with 28 points while shooting 11-21 from the field. Yes, he did create some chances for his teammates, stacking seven assists.
