Patriots Share Video Saluting Fans After Playing Entire Season In Empty Stadium

The New England Patriots played their final game of the season in an empty stadium. COVID-19 did its thing and the Patriots decided to play in empty stadiums. Most NFL teams decided to do the same. It was a weird and long season full of obstacles, injuries, and losses. Positive coronavirus tests changed the schedule and Patriots’ games were postponed on multiple occasions. Well, the disappointing season started with Tom Brady’s departure from the team. He left the organization to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The number of positive tests jumped pretty high, and the Patriots decided to cancel crowds. Diehard Patriots fans weren’t allowed to enter the stadium and watch their idols play. Gillette Stadium was empty throughout the entire season. Some teams allowed fans,  but Gillette didn’t host anybody in 2020.

Patriots missed fans in their empty stadium

The Patriots finished their season with a win and shared an amazing video to salute all the fans out there. A great number of Patriots fans followed the team throughout the regular season. Fans didn’t attend games but they did support their favorite team. It wasn’t the same without crowds. But, the team appreciates all the support players got, hoping to see everyone again really soon.

Hopefully, things will go back to normal in the upcoming season. Patriots players missed their fans and it was hard to play without all the noise and excitement. It was a terrible year for most NFL teams and pretty much everyone had to deal with an outbreak. The Patriots had it in October. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton was the first player to test positive for the virus. Veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore got it, too. Several players ended up on the Patriots’ reserve/COVID-19 list. Their condition was great, but there was a drop in their performance following the recovery process. New England lost too many games this year, and COVID-19 is one of the reasons.

We can’t wait to see the best of the team in 2021. Head coach Bill Belichick will probably make some changes to the roster and he may also lose some of its assistants.
