Patriots Reportedly Make Decision On Jimmy Garoppolo

The New England Patriots offered quarterback Cam Newton a one-year deal. However, the veteran quarterback may not go under center in 2021. The Patriots have been linked to several quarterbacks, including Jimmy Garoppolo.

The San Francisco 49ers pulled off a big trade to move up to No.3 in the 2021 NFL Draft. Many thought that Garoppolo will soon leave the team. Will he re-sign with the Patriots? Is New England a contender at this point?

Patriots may not go after Jimmy Garoppolo

Jordan Schultz from ESPN reported that Garoppolo may not go to New England after all. He won’t sign with the team in the near future. Well, he may not sign with the Patriots at all. The Patriots already re-signed Newton and their cap space is limited at this point. This is why Garoppolo may not go to New England after all.

“#Patriots are not pursuing #49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, per sources,” Schultz wrote. “Cap space isn’t there and obviously Cam Newton will return. Additionally, the draft is flush with QBs. No Jimmy GQ reunion for the Pats in foreseeable future.”

Garoppolo struggled to stay healthy. He sustained a lot of injuries during his time in San Francisco. 2019 was a good season for him, but he wasn’t that explosive in his other seasons and missed too much games.

The Patriots struggled to win games in their first season without Tom Brady. They finished the season with a 7-9 record and their offense ranked 27th. It was their first losing season since 2000.

NFL experts predicted a big chance for the Patriots, but Belichick decided to give Newton another chance.

New England can still add a quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. There’s almost zero chance for us to see Garoppolo in New England. Belichick has a few options in his pocket. He will probably trust Newton again and let him lead the offense. The only thing we can do right now is sit back and see what happens in New England.
