Patriots WR Shares Thoughts on Cam Newton Potential Return

The New England Patriots will have to make a decision on Cam Newton and his future with the team. Will he return to the team? Is he the Patriots’ franchise quarterback for the 2021 season? Wide receiver N’Keal Harry shared his thoughts on Cam Newton and his return.

The first-round pick from the 2019 NFL Draft is entering his third season with the team. This is supposed to be a make-or-break campaign for the wide receiver. Harry would love to catch passes from Newton in 2021.

In his convo with Nicole Yang of the Boston Globe, Harry said he “would absolutely love to have” Newton in the locker room in 2021.

Harry wants Cam Newton to return in 2021

Harry and Newton built a nice relationship  in 2020, and their bond became stronger by the end of the year.

“He helped me so much throughout the season, not only on the field with football stuff but with off-the-field stuff, just more about being a professional, about life,” Harry told Yang. “He really helped me in all aspects of life last year, so I really do appreciate him for that.”

The wide receiver called Newton a “very fun person to play with.” Yes, Newton really brought plenty of vibe and energy in the Patriots locker room. Harry is a young player and he is still trying to find his footing. Newton brings enough comfort, and Harry works well by his side.

Newton had a big impact on his teammates. Patriots captain Devin McCourty would love to have Newton back, too.

After two bad seasons, Harry is the guy with the most to prove heading into the new season. The 23-year-old was forced to miss 11 games in his time with the Patriots. In 21 games with the team, Harry hit just 45 receptions for 309 yards and two touchdowns.

Harry has yet to prove his value, and Newton may stay around to help him. Will they form the next Tom Brady-Julian Edelman duo in New England? The only thing we can do right now is wait.
