New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft watched his team lose games in 2020. It was a horrible season. Head coach Bill Belichick had his first losing season in a long time. The Patriots have built a dynasty. Losing games doesn’t look like them. NFL analysts had nothing but words of criticism for the 2020 Patriots. Well, Belichick went crazy in the offseason and packed his team with talent. Kraft has high expectations from the current team.
How would Kraft describe the 2020 season?
It was the Patriots’ first season without Tom Brady. The quarterback left the team after 20 years and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. New England played terribly without him. Losing Brady wasn’t the only problem New England had. Players struggled on both ends of the ball. The team lacked strong weapons and finished the season with a 7-9 record. Really disappointing.
Robert Kraft admits 2020 was a bad year
Kraft has been the Patriots’ owner since 1994. He got used to the winning culture and 2020 was really disappointing. The losing record taught everyone a lesson and Kraft is well aware of that.
The Patriots owner needed one word to describe the season.
“It was horrible,” he said of the losing record.
In Brady’s rookie campaign, the Patriots went 5-11. Brady took over as starter in 2001 and the Patriots’ destiny changed. He helped the team win six Super Bowls and made a few other appearances.
Cam Newton led the Patriots in 2020. Belichick decided to give him another chance. In 2020, the Patriots missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Brady tore his ACL that season.
TB12 signed with the Buccaneers and led the team to the Super Bowl. They celebrated the big win and Brady got his seventh ring. This was like adding salt to an injury. But, Kraft supported his quarterback. He rooted for Brady, just like every Patriots fan.
The Patriots have yet to find their quarterback of the future. Newton will do the job for the season.
