Colin Cowherd Has Blunt Message For Cam Newton

Colin Cowherd doesn’t see a bright future for former Patriots quarterback Cam Newton. Moreover, he doesn’t see a future for him in the NFL at all.

The Patriots cut the veteran in the most recent roster trimmings. For some, this was the end of the quarterback battle in New England. This was more like a shock for us all because Newton is really popular and his presence in the locker room is more than needed. NFL players really like him and his leadership has helped teams win. He is a fan favorite and yes, everyone likes him.

Well, this “love” won’t give Newton a job. That’s what Cowherd said in his most recent episode.

“Everybody tells you they love Cam Newton but each time he’s available, nobody takes him,” he said on The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd. “He had no market as a free agent and now he has no market as a backup.”

Colin Cowherd made a strong point on Cam Newton

Cowherd made a good point. The same happened right before the Patriots brought Newton to New England for the first time. The Carolina Panthers had cut him in the spring, and Newton was out there waiting for an offer until the summer. Head coach Bill Belichick made the only offer and he gave Newton a chance to play.

The 2015 NFL MPV is in a similar position again. Unfortunately, he may not find a home in the league this time.

“Unless I’m missing something, I really don’t see a landing spot,” Rapaport said on Thursday. “You would also say, do you want Cam Newton, who has been a megastar, someone who is magnetic in the locker room … do you want him as a backup quarterback?

“I am not sure where Cam Newton gets a job, and I am not sure if Cam Newton gets a job.”

Well, at least a few fans will agree with this. NFL teams pick up pretty much every quarterback on the market. The former Patriots signal-caller wasn’t even offered a job as a backup. That’s so sad. He still has a lot to offer and Josh McDaniels said he had huge improvement.
