Dennis Schroder Makes Shocking Revelation About $84M Offer From Lakers
Dennis Schroder turned down an $84 million offer from the Los Angeles Lakers. It was a big blow for the German native and he ended up signing a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics. Some say he will be getting their lunch money. Schroder thought that other teams would offer much more than Rob Pelinka’s offer. It didn’t happen.
So, what made Schroder turn down this great offer?
The NBA veteran wanted to test the open market. He did this for the very first time in his career. It was a bold move, but Schroder didn’t get his $100+ million. Former and current NBA players criticized the veteran for his terrible decision.
Dennis Schroder had a reason to turn down the offer from the Lakers
Schroder doesn’t mind talking about this and he did it for the very first time as a Celtics veteran. Yes, he is well aware of the fact that the Lakers were a much better option for him.
“Me and my agent decided not to sign the contract,” Schroder said. “I feel like, for me, personally, I gotta be comfortable in the environment I’m in. Love the Lakers organization, they did great things … I think for me, I don’t think I fit it 100%. You play with LeBron and AD, that’s two of the best players in the NBA, and I don’t think I gave them everything — what I bring to the table. For me and my family, I signed a pretty good contract after my fourth year, and my family and myself, we’re gonna be good. I’m 28 years old, I’m gonna still play in the NBA for a long time. Money is not everything.”
Dennis Schroder on turning down a reported $84M extension offer from the Lakers: "I never had that contract in front of me. We were talking about it, but I never had that in front of me…Money isn't everything. I still got a nice deal for me and my family."

Schroder said he never quite fit in with the Lakers, so that's why he didn't want to return to LA. He said it was hard to leave two all-time greats in LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but the he had to do somewhere that he fit in.

Schroder also mentioned that the Lakers didn’t really put the deal in front of him. As he said, there was a lot of talking, but no one put the contract in front of him.
There’s another details. Schroder wasn’t a fit for the Lakers and he had trouble bonding with the team. Anthony Davis didn’t like playing with him. It was hard and he preferred Rajon Rondo over Schroder.
