Report: Patriots Had Four Players In For Workouts On Tuesday

The New England Patriots are not wasting their time. The team lost the season opener against the Miami Dolphins and head coach Bill Belichick didn’t like any of it. He is determined to make a change, and he will probably take a different approach in the upcoming game. What’s next on the list? The Patriots had four players for workouts and this is pretty much everything you should know about Belichick’s plans. The man is determined to win. He has a strong rookie and yes, he has to make tiny adjustments.

The Patriots were trying to add some depth to the roster. Well, this goes for pretty much every team in the league. Each and every coach could use depth at this point. Week 1 is out and they all have to make some changes.

Patriots did great workouts

New England had an off-day from practice as everyone is getting ready for the next game against the New York Jets. They worked out RB Nathan Cottrell (Georgia Tech), OT Derwin Gray (Maryland), G Jordan Meredith (Western Kentucky) and DB Linden Stephens (Cincinnati).

Cottrell went undrafted in 2020 and spent two seasons on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice unit. The team released him last Monday. Belichick could use a running back right now.

Gray was a seventh-round pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019. He spent two seasons with the team and then played with the Jacksonville Jaugars and Tennessee Titans. Trent Brown suffered an injury and getting Gray seems like a reasonable option.

Meredith joined the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent this spring. The Rams cut him in the final roster trimmings.

Stephens joined the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and made a few stops in the NFL in the last four years. He saw action in 13 games for the Seattle Seahawks last season. Stats sheets show that he took 164 snaps on special teams.

Each of these players looks like a good option for Belichick’s team. Maybe he will make a few more moves to prepare his team for the next challenge.
