Report: Proposed Trade Sends Lakers Ex-NBA MVP & a Former Top-10 Pick

There is a proposed trade that sends a former Lakers NBA MVP and a former top 10 pick. The Lakers have been struggling to start the season and that is an understatement. With the roster that they currently have in place, they should be playing at a much higher level than they currently are. There were quite a few trades over the off season that seemed to put the Lakers in a good position. But Russell Westbrook has not been playing at a high level thus far.

Westbrook maybe just needs a bit of time to readjust to playing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But that is what practice and the preseason is for. If the preseason was any indication, what is happening to the Lakers right now should not be a surprise.

Alex Kirschenbaum has some suggestions for Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka.

He suggests that the Lakers have the potential for a blockbuster deal with the Knicks that sends Westbrook to New York for Derrick Rose, Evan Fournier and Kevin Knox. This trade would not be able to happen until at least December 15th. But it would be an interesting trade that could have a big impact on the NBA as a whole.

The Lakers need some work done in order to get where they want to be as a team. They are definitely expecting to be one of the top teams in the NBA. The Finals are always where the Lakers are looking but right now, they are not a top level team in the NBA.

The injuries that have kept LeBron James out of the line up for a few weeks now. But for Anthony Davis, this is no excuse.

“We can’t control (LeBron) playing or not, but what we can control is going out there and winning basketball games,” Davis said. “With the guys that we have, we have enough pieces to still win basketball games, even though he brings a huge part to both ends of the floor of what we do.”

“It’s an adjustment period of trying to figure out new schemes and stuff like that without him, for however long he’s out,” Davis continued. “But like I said, we still have enough pieces to win basketball games.”
