Report: Lakers Linked to Knicks Big Man in Proposed Trade

Anthony Davis will sit out the next four weeks due to a left knee strain and the Los Angeles Lakers have to think of a solution. The team has been linked to several players, including a Knicks big man. Will the Lakers engage in a Knicks trade deal?

Sam Quinn of CBS Sports says Robinson is the best option for the Lakers right now. The big man had gained weight in the offseason and had a bench role. Maybe he needs a better chance at the moment.

“I wish I could jump right back into it and be who I was before the injury,” Robinson said recently. “It’s cool. I’m going to work and be back to myself.”

Lakers have a chance to get the Knicks youngster through a trade

Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan could step in as a replacement for Davis. The latter has yet to meet expectations.

“At the end of the day, I’m a professional,” Jordan said. “So whenever I am called upon, I’m gonna try and be ready as best as I can, and when I’m not called on I’ll be there to cheer my teammates on and kind of give pointers wherever I see fit and just be ready. When Dwight is in there and he’s playing well, I’m giving him tips, I’m cheering him on, I’m doing whatever I need to be doing to make sure that our team has that right energy to be going (the right way).”

Robinson is really young and he has great talent. Here’s what Quinn wrote about him:

“The Lakers sorely need athletic upside in the frontcourt and Robinson provides a boatload of it. He’s also playing for a new contract, so any acquiring team should expect him to do his best to fit in. Robinson probably couldn’t play alongside Davis and Russell Westbrook given his very traditional offensive role as a non-shooting roller and rebounder, but if he recaptures his old defensive form, he could make a world of difference on that end of the floor.”

Players who need new contracts can easily switch teams when given the opportunity. Robinson craves a better deal and Rob Pelinka has a spot for him on the Lakers roster.
