JR Smith Supports Former All-Star Guard for Lakers Head Coaching Job

The Los Angeles Lakers fired Frank Vogel after the end of a really disappointing season. Many say he was the Lakers’ scapegoat. The Lakers will have to make a move and find a new head coach. There have been strong rumors related to the Lakers and their next head coach. Mark Jackson is one of the options LA has right now. NBA veteran JR Smith has something to say about the Lakers coaching staff.

The former Laker would definitely bet on Jackson. He is convinced that Jackson is the right person to replace Vogel. We have a few good reasons to believe that Jackson has whatever it takes to lead the Lakers to a championship.

JR Smith could see Jackson on the Lakers coaching staff, but there’s a big obstacle

Jackson was coaching the Golden State Warriors and took the team to the playoffs twice. He hasn’t coached another team in the last few years. However, now he may get a chance to coach his own team.

Jackson is a really coach. He has everything a head coach needs to lead an NBA team. NBA players really like him and LeBron James is definitely a fan. Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that LeBron likes the idea of seeing Jackson as the next head coach for the Lakers.

“Sources say James would be very enthused by the prospect of Mark Jackson landing the job,” Amick wrote. “But as history tells us, that doesn’t mean it will actually happen.”

Jackson had a key role with the Warriors and he helped Stephen Curry become a top player.

Warriors owner Joe Lacob said the franchise fired Jackson because “he couldn’t get along with anybody else in the organization … And look, he did a great job, and I’ll always compliment him in many respects, but you can’t have 200 people in the organization not like you.”

This makes sense. Jackson is a great coach, but he had a hard time finding a job as a head coach. The Warriors owner make a big claim. The Lakers don’t need someone who would cause problems within the organization.
