Lakers Have Come Close to Decision on Anthony Davis’ Future With Team

The Los Angeles Lakers are finishing another disappointing season and Rob Pelinka is already planning his next move. The team was packed with great veterans, but players failed to make the big game. Again. Who is the first to go? Russell Westbrook is a common target and so is Frank Vogel. The Lakers have to make a decision on Anthony Davis and his future with the franchise, too.

The big man earned a contract extension but he is missing too much time. When healthy, Davis is one of the better players in the NBA. Unfortunately, he has missed a lot of time in the last couple of seasons. Davis helped the Lakers win a title inside the NBA bubble in Orlando, but things went down the hill the very next season.

Lakers to make expected decision on Anthony Davis and his future in LA

How will the Lakers handle this? According to several reports, Davis may have to go.

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report believes that the Lakers would consider trading the big man.

“Los Angeles will be limited in its options for turnover outside of the coaching staff. While some rival executives around the league have wondered about the Lakers’ willingness to discuss trading All-Star forward Anthony Davis this offseason, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation refuted that option will seriously be on the table for Los Angeles brass. Despite Davis’ battle with injury the past two seasons, Lakers figures still harbor faith that a healthy pairing of Davis and LeBron James can once more boast a championship-contending ceiling as it did in 2020.”

The Lakers are entering a long offseason and Davis will have plenty of time to recover and bring his body into a shape. If he has another terrible season, the Lakers won’t think twice before chopping him off.

Westbrook may not be as lucky as Davis. Fans are disappointed and the franchise will probably put an end to his tenure with the team. This experiment didn’t work and it was one of the worst moves LA made in the last few seasons.
