LeBron James Didn’t Want NBA Champion to Coach Lakers

LeBron James picked his favorite in the Los Angeles Lakers search for a new head coach. Well, the Lakers made a decision and chose Darvin Ham to be their next head coach. LeBron was more than excited about Ham’s addition and even took to Twitter to deliver his strong message.

Ham was a favorite to get the job. Terry Stotts and Kenny Atkinson talked to the Lakers, but Ham earned their trust.

These three weren’t the only candidates to be linked to the Lakers. Many thought that Doc Rivers could join the Lakers after another disappointing season with the Philadelphia 76ers. Well, Daryl Morey told the world that Rivers won’t go anywhere. Marc Stein of Substack was convinced that the Lakers are still waiting for Rivers to join their team.

It didn’t happen. Now we have another report suggesting that LeBron never wanted the Lakers to hire the Sixers head coach. This goes against each and every rumor suggesting that LeBron would choose Rivers over any other candidate.

Austin Krell of The Painted Lines reported that LeBron had other ideas.

LeBron James to win more games with new head coach, Lakers teammates

The Lakers have to make some big moves this offseason. They have already found a head coach. Now they have to fix the roster and get rid of the players who failed to make an impact last season.

LeBron has high expectations from the franchise. He came to LA to win and now is the real time to win a few more titles.

“I think the front office will do whatever it takes to help this ballclub become a better ballclub from top to bottom,” LeBron said. “Ask me my opinion, I’m going to give my opinion. But at the end of the day, they’re going to make the decision that they feel is best for the franchise.”

Numerous reports suggested that there’s a tension between LeBron and the front office. Well, the king of basketball hopes for the best and he trusts his team. He knows that Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss will do the right thing.

“I came here to win a championship. And I want to win more. So I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish, but I’m still hungry for more,” James said during his exit interview. “I’m confident that this organization wants the same. That’s what this organization has always been about. … So I’ve done that. We’ve done that. But I want to do it again.”
