Ex Lakers Starter Signs Massive New $102 Million Contract

A former Los Angeles Lakers starter has just signed a multimillion deal with his current team.

The Lakers traded Kyle Kuzma to get Russell Westbrook in 2021. It was a best move as Westbrook turned out to be a big disappointment for the franchise. When it comes to Kuzma, he got the best of this opportunity. He joined the Washington Wizards at an awkward timing and the team awarded his performance with a four-year deal worth $102 million.

The former Laker averaged 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game last season. He started 64 games with the Wizards and was shooting 33.3% from long range. In his four years with the Lakers, Kuzma started 146 games and averaged 15.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. The Lakers gave him a three-year deal worth $39 million back then.

“DC let’s turn this ship around!! May take time but I’m committed you guys and turning the city up!!💯💯🫶🏽,” Kuzma tweeted June 30, 2023 tweets. “9 figures out the mud that’s blessed🙏🏽🤝🤲🏽 just a kid from flint.”

The former Lakers starter is still close to some of his teammates

Kuzma joined the Lakers inside the NBA bubble and helped the team win the title in Orlando. He may not be happy with the way LA sent him flying, but he is still close with some of his former teammates.

“There’s a handful of them [I stay in contact with], we’re all still obviously tapped in on social media,” Alex Caruso said of his former teammates in 2022. “I talk to Kuz [Kyle Kuzma] a lot about golf, about basketball, about stuff just in general. We have a great relationship. KCP [Kentavious Caldwell-Pope], LeBron through social media, a bunch of those guys from Danny Green, Dwight [Howard], still tap in with them every now and then. We got a great chemistry.”

Kuzma is set to earn a lot of money in the next four years. However, he is still a little bitter about the big trade. The front office promised to keep him around, but they ended up trading him. Kuzma found his tribe and he should just get over the deal. It is all business…
